When Mac Cosgrove-Davies was 12 his parents installed a darkroom in their basement. Although his mom and sister used it, the darkroom became his space. He has been practicing photography ever since, including learning many historic photographic processes like wet plate collodion (or tintype) photography.
When he’s not at work you’ll often find DC-native Garrett McGuire exploring the local trails with his wife and their dog. The trails aren’t the only place you can catch him these days though; Garrett recently reimagined his love of the outdoors through a volunteer opportunity at the Bridges to Independence Sullivan House.
Esther has been a volunteer at Bridges to Independence for over a year and is honored to serve as part of their organization. She sincerely enjoys the time spent as a mentor every week in the youth program. She looks forward to and prioritizes every opportunity to volunteer. It’s truly a rewarding experience for her to see the children grow and develop through Bridges to Independence’s programs and activities.

Barbara Olivere, a professional storyteller and retired librarian and Evan Pollack, a professional musician, volunteer for Tunes & Tales at Central Library, using their skills to bring joy to children and families through storytelling and music. Barbara started volunteering for the library in the fall of 2017, helping their intergenerational program at the Arlington Mill Community Center called Seniors and Kids Together Storytime.
After he sold his business building high-end homes in Connecticut and the Hamptons, Bill Marshall moved to Arlington in 2017 to join his wife. Getting antsy after a few months of retirement, Bill began searching for a new way to direct his energies. He learned about Rebuilding Together Arlington/Fairfax/Falls Church through Volunteer Arlington and started volunteering regularly on Rebuilding Together Express projects, in which small teams of skilled volunteers make health and safety repairs at no charge for low-income homeowners.

Bush, founder of Points of Light - the world's largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. As a member of the Points of Light Network, Volunteer Arlington is proud to continue his legacy in our community, bringing to life his enduring belief in each individual's ability to create meaningful change.
In October, volunteers from Regency Centers completed their Day of Service project at mental health nonprofit PRS’ Fairfax Recovery Academy Day Program. PRS is a local nonprofit that helps individuals living with serious mental health issues and facing life crises and is a partner of Volunteer Arlington. Regency Centers volunteers created a garden with fresh flowers and herbs that clients will use for cooking. Volunteers also landscaped, power-washed, and organized activities with the clients including making bird feeders and decorating mini-pots of herbs for clients to take home.
