Who We Are

1. What is Volunteer Arlington?

Volunteer Arlington is public-private partnership between Leadership Center of Arlington and Arlington County. Volunteer Arlington connects individuals, groups, and businesses to volunteer and civic engagement opportunities. We partner with over 400 local nonprofit and government partners to support their needs..

2. What is the Leadership Center of Arlington, and how is it connected with Volunteer Arlington?

The mission of Leadership Center of Arlington is to connect, develop, and inspire leaders for personal growth, civic engagement, and community impact. We offer a variety of programs for leadership development to include Lead, Ignite, Inspire, and On Board. Additionally, we manage Volunteer Arlington as one of our many civic engagement programs. 

Looking to Volunteer

1. As a first-time volunteer, where do I start in looking for opportunities?

Congratulations in beginning your volunteer service! Working with over 400 Volunteer Arlington partners (nonprofit and government entities), we strive to make it easy for you to put your passions and skills into action. You can utilize our Volunteer Management Tool to find an opportunity. If you know what cause you’re interested in serving, you can filter opportunities connected with that particular cause. If you just want to browse through opportunities for anything that looks interesting, you can do that too! Just click here and start browsing.

2. Do I have to create a profile in order to view volunteer opportunities and the rest of the website content?

No. You are free to explore all website content without a profile. However, we would love for you to create a profile, so that your particular interests, talents, and volunteer time frame can be best matched with our nonprofit or county needs.

3. Is there an age limit to create a profile or for the volunteer opportunities posted? 

Yes. Users must be at least 13 years of age to create a profile. Volunteer Arlington wants to include every age group; however, by nature, certain volunteer opportunities are more suitable for those over 18. Often, nonprofits will specify whether age is a requirement.

4. What if I am not an Arlington Resident? Can I still use the site to find opportunities?

Yes. We want everyone who is interested in serving our Volunteer Arlington Partners to get involved!

5. Can I volunteer with a group?

We’re thrilled to hear you are interested in bringing multiple people with you to give back to the community! When you browse through the volunteer opportunities, you’ll notice you can filter it for opportunities that are suitable for group. You can also contact the Volunteer Arlington team at volarl@leadercenter.org to help you get started.

6. We’re a business/corporation and want to expand our culture of giving back at the local level. How can Volunteer Arlington help?

1. I am a nonprofit located in the Arlington/DMV region looking to promote my volunteer opportunities. Can Volunteer Arlington help me?

Yes. We work as a connection hub for volunteers and our Volunteer Arlington partners who support the community. Through our Volunteer Management Tool, trainings, and events, we hope to support your mission, work, and hope to engage local volunteers.

2. As a nonprofit located in Arlington/the DMV region, can I become a partner and start using the Volunteer Arlington website?
